A Fall Family Session in Summit New Jersey

It was such a joy photographing this beautiful family session in Summit, New Jersey. As a Summit NJ Family Photographer my favorite sessions are the ones where families can simply slow down, enjoy being together, and allow genuine moments to unfold naturally. My goal is always to create relaxed, timeless family photography that captures the authentic connection between parents and their children.

Meaningful Family Portraits

What made these family portraits especially meaningful was that this family chose to have their session at home. I love when families invite me into the place where their everyday memories are made. We photographed them throughout their beautiful indoor spaces before heading outside to take advantage of their amazing property—it was the perfect combination.

In-home family sessions create photographs that feel deeply personal because they’re centered around the spaces where your family spends the most time together. My favorite moment from this session was when their cat decided to join us for a few portraits! It was such a special and unexpected part of their story—something that may not have happened if we had photographed their family somewhere else.

Including the details that make your home and your family unique is one of the things I love most about in-home sessions. These little moments are what make your photographs feel truly personal and meaningful, preserving not only what your family looked like during this season of life, but what it felt like.

One of the added benefits of an in-home family session is the flexibility it provides. This family was able to change outfits before we went outside, giving us two different looks without the stress of traveling to another location. Combined with the beautiful fall light and chilly weather, it made for the perfect morning to capture this season of their family’s story.
