What to wear for your in-home newborn session
Welcoming a new baby into your family is a special moment that you want to be captured beautifully, and my in-home newborn sessions are an intimate and personal atmosphere. They allow you to relax, so I can capture the first moments of you together as a new family. One question that often comes up when preparing for your session is what to wear. It’s important to choose outfits that are comfortable and will complement your home and baby’s delicate features. Here are some of my tips on what to wear for your in-home newborn session:
1. Choose soft and comfortable fabrics.
You just had a baby and comfort is key. Your session with me is about intimate moments with your family and feeling relaxed is important. It is also soothing for your baby.
2. Keep it simple and neutral.
Neutral colors such as beige, cream, white and soft pastels are timeless and don’t distract from your baby. You should avoid bold patterns and colors that can take away from highlighting the expressions and connections with your family. Simplicity is key and it’s best to not wear busy patterns or logos.
3. Complement but don’t match.
Choosing outfits that complement each other but don’t match is key. It creates a cohesive and aesthetically pleasing look. Choose complementary colors and textures.
4. Consider your home’s decor.
If your home has a certain vibe, you would want to complement the aesthetic. For example, if your home has a rustic vibe, you might want to consider earthy tones or flowing fabrics. Or if your home is very colorful you might want to choose whites or creams.
5. Keep in mind your personality.
I am a jeans and t-shirt girl, or comfy lounge wear. Keep in mind what makes most sense for you to wear. Do you love dresses and that would make you feel your best? Or do you feel most comfortable in pants and a shirt?
In conclusion, when choosing what to wear for your in-home newborn session, it’s essential to choose outfits that are comfortable, simple and that complement each other. Neutrals are always best, along with soft fabrics to keep the focus on your family’s connection. Most importantly, don’t stress, enjoy the moments, and choose to capture these memories that will last a lifetime.
