The endless baby product recommendations were always so overwhelming to me. Even trying to be a minimalist mom, I still over-registered and over-purchased. A lot ended up unused, and taking up mental space! When I had my second baby, who is now 7 months old, I made sure to be more intentional and not purchase unnecessary items. I thought it would be helpful to share my favorite baby products and I compiled a list of 15 that I would recommend adding to your registry!
15 Favorite Baby ProductsZip pajamas (if two-way zip, even better) are the best. Easy for diaper changes and easy to put back on.
Both my kids were constantly spitting up. When I became a first time mom I thought we could survive on one burp cloth a day, but I probably use/used 3-4 a day! I just buy white muslin ones that absorb well.
Pacifiers
My favorite were the Philip Advent pacifiers but really any that come recommended by a lactation consultant work! Babies love to suck and in between feedings they really helped to calm my daughter (my son is a thumb sucker haha!)
I use my boppy pillow each time I nurse at home. It has always been super helpful in propping my babies. It also can be used for support while sitting or tummy time.
Any Sound Machine!
We have always used a sound machine for my kids for both naps and bed. I really think it helps soothe them to sleep! I also use a portable one during newborn sessions.
My daughter always had the hiccups. Gripe water was our favorite trick to get rid of them. Just a tiny bit in her mouth and they would go away!
This soap is my go to for bottle and pump cleaning. It really helped clean off the milk fat/residue.
I bought this little egg light during my second pregnancy after seeing it online. When my son was born we used it in the early days for late night diaper changes or nursing sessions. I think it would be a great addition to a hospital bag as well!
We swear by a DARK room for both naps and bed, and we bought these cheap paper shades from Amazon. We have also traveled with them and place them on any windows when our kids are sleeping.
I’m one of the unlucky ones who get breast clogs a lot. I even had mastitis with my daughter. I swear by taking sunflower lecithin once I feel a clog coming on (which feels like a bruise.)
Ceres Chill Breastmilk Storage
A beautiful invention that I think any on-the-go pumping mom needs. My friend first told me about the Ceres Chill and it’s probably my favorite baby product I own. It’s a thermos that can hold breast milk a variety of ways, and can keep it cold without the need of a refrigerator or freezer.
Wearable Pump
A game changer for pumping. I have the Elvie Stride wearable pump that fits in my bra and allows me to pump anywhere discreetly. I often pump in my car while driving to sessions. Then I use the Ceres Chill to store my milk until I’m home 🙂
Baby Tracker App.
My daughter’s pediatrician suggested this app. and I still use it for my son. It tracks feeding, diapers, sleep and medication. My consistent mom-brain makes it hard to remember anything and it’s the best place to keep track of all of that.
Evenflo Balance Wide Neck Baby Bottles
My son was such a pain about bottles. I found these that have great reviews and look a lot like nipples. He is doing great taking a bottle now!
The hand pump is my favorite product to quickly remove milk. It is easier to clean and has fewer parts. In the early days I’d also use it to remove only a little milk if my breasts still felt full after a feeding. It also allowed me to slowly create a freezer stash!

Hopefully this list of my 15 favorite baby products helps narrow down what is essential to buy for your baby (beyond diapers, wipes and a crib of course!)

As a nursing mom, I couldn’t live without the Boppy pillow! Such a great list!
My boys still sleep with their sound machine and they are turning 5 this summer haha SO many good recommendations!
What a great list for new and seasoned moms! I definitely preferred the hand pump over any fancy mechanical ones!
What a great resource for your new families!
Love this list, a great resource for families!
